Hello everyone,
Please join us for the next TAXIS open reading group meeting. This month we are reading around the theme of Empiricism(s).
We’ll be reading:
- Tkaczyk, Viktoria, Mara Mills, and Alexandra Hui, eds. 2020. Testing Hearing: The Making of Modern Aurality. Oxford University Press.
- Volmar, Axel. 2019. “Experiencing High Fidelity: Sound Reproduction and the Politics of Music Listening in the Twentieth Century,” in The Oxford Handbook of Music Listening in the 19th and 20th Centuries, ed. Christian Thorau and Hansjakob Ziemer, vol. 1. Oxford University Press, 395–417.
We’ll be meeting on Zoom on Friday April 9th, at 1 p.m. (Eastern) / 6 p.m. (London). Please note the change from our “usual” time.
We will need to do some work to divvy up the larger text, which will be done over email.
If you would like to be included in the next meeting or upcoming meetings, please get in touch with either myself (belle2@tcd.ie) or Ezra (ezra@redthunderaudio.com) to be kept in the loop. We will also send out the Zoom link for this meeting by email, closer to the time. All are welcome!
